raw vegan food detox

You certainly don't have to a 'raw foodist' or a 'vegan' or a 'raw vegan' to join a raw food retreat. No matter what your normal eating regime entails, simply come and explore a different and healthy way to eat and live. You'll learn new things about food and the preparation there of, and at the same time you'll get to enjoy delicious and healthy food. You won't go hungry, but will feel satisfied because all meals are balanced and provide sufficient nutrients to sustain you, and the food is incredibly delicious too.

On the retreat, we will look at the various motivations behind such a diet (see right hand column), but we are by no means trying to convince you that you should become a raw vegan. We have an attitude that everyone has their own path and their own journey, and we simply aim to encourage you to look within, to get to know your body, and to find what best suits you - your body, mind, spirit, life-style, social interactions etc. This is a part of that inner inquiry and investigation.

On this retreat, there will be no caffeine, meat, dairy, alcohol, processed foods or cooked foods. Your body will have a chance to have a rest from these often energy zapping foods and instead, will be nurtured and energised by the foods served. You'll be eating foods rich in life giving energy, which are both nutritional and full of health and healing qualities.

After following this diet for a few days, participating in two yoga classes a day, meditating, relaxing, meeting like minded people, you'll feel amazing - healthy, happy, alive and motivated to continue enjoying the journey of life. For many, such a retreat is a stepping stone to living in a healthier way - for body, mind and spirit.

yoga & raw vegan food detox retreat

..In 2020  I am not leading a raw food retreat, but include  raw food when breaking a juice fast on healthy eating retreats.

  • A raw vegan diet includes raw vegetables and fruits, nuts and nut pastes, grain and legume sprouts, seeds, plant oils, sea vegetables, herbs, and fresh juices. The definition of a raw vegan diet can be loosened to include vegan diets with at least 75–80% raw foods.
  • A raw vegan diet may be motivated by the ethics involved in eating meat, dairy, eggs and honey and the principle of ahimsa (non-violence); by health reasons; spiritual reasons; environmental reasons or any combination of these.
  • In terms of health, raw vegans believe that cooking foods destroys the complex balance of micronutrients. They also believe that, in the cooking process, dangerous chemicals are sometimes produced by the heat interaction with fat, protein, and carbohydrates.
  • Some followers of a raw vegan diet place importance on the spiritual gain of following such a diet. They consider how food, living, treatment of the earth, our treatment of each other, and our quest for physical, spiritual, and mental health all fit together.
